I don’t think I ever posted this dress from the “Best Dressed” book I did last year. So...here.

Scarlett.

When I was picking dresses for my SDCC book, I knew I didn't want to do Scarlett O'Hara's drapery gown, even though it is certainly one of the most iconic dresses in all moviedom. I am not that big a fan of “Gone with the Wind” (actually, I like the book) and it’s not a movie that really resonates with me. But I did draw the dress of a character named Scarlett, and it is a dress that I love from a movie I love. Here’s Scarlett's dress from “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” It’s exactly the kind of dress this character would wear. And it’s exactly the kind of dress I would wear.

Axe murderer.

My summer project this year was a book about dresses. I drew ten of my favorite dresses from movies and wrote a paragraph on each.

This, you may remember, is Harriet’s wedding dress in “So I Married an Axe Murderer.”

I did not remember.

I remembered the dress but not the movie. I could see that hood very clearly in my mind. I could remember to pose and the posture and the flowers and the brooch...but I could not remember where the dress was from. I convinced myself that it was from the scene in “Four Weddings and Funeral” where Andie McDowell’s character tries on a series of dresses...but it was not.

I took to googling things like “movie wedding dresses” and “hooded wedding dress” and I still could not find it. But finally I was looking at a slide show about costumes and there it was.

I still think it's an exceptionally pretty and interesting wedding dress.

Well Dressed.

Every year at SDCC we (the Tired Girl Collective) need to have a new book. It’s just part of the deal. New year, new book. This year my book was about dresses. Famous-ish dresses. Dresses that I would like to own, but not necessarily wear. I’ve posted a few here previously (odds are good that if I posted a dress, it was in my book). And here are a few more. Because I haven’t posted in a while. And I really should. Do they look familiar?

Before.

I am working on a series of dresses. More specifically, dresses from movies. Not necessarily award winning dresses, but rather, dresses that I like. I’ve done that lovely black gown from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and the pink prom dress from “Pretty in Pink” and here is another prom dress. Although this one had a slightly less happy ending. It’s still a little bit in progress, but I’ve really been enjoying tinkering with this one.

I wasn’t gonna, but then I realized that it is, indeed Thursday. So I did.
