I wasn’t gonna, but then I realized that it is, indeed Thursday. So I did.

Sheepish.
I was asked to design a logo featuring a sheep facing forward. These are the designs that got left behind. I am particularly partial to the one meditating. It looks a little bit like Lambchop, I think.

Another.
Messing with the Beistle Halloween stuff again. It’s a pleasant exercise.

Not different enough, but fun. Maybe I’ll tinker some more.

Pretty? Really?
Well...we know it was pink. But was it pretty?
Also, why did she never say THE prom? But I think we all know how Stef ended up on “The Blacklist.”

Halloween.
I had a little bit of a draw-er’s block the other day. I really wanted to draw, but nothing was working. (And, yes, when I say “draw,” I mean on the computer.) I tried drawing one thing but it came out looking like another and...I just wasn’t feeling it. But I had this idea that I HAD to draw some Halloween images. So I did what everyone does and I googled Halloween and I came across the classic Beistle Halloween cutouts that those of a certain age remember from their youth. They were vintage when I was a kid but now they are cool vintage.
You remember this, don’t you?
You remember this, don’t you?
So I decided to redraw it, making it a little more...me. And I came up with this...
And I like it. It’s a little more me. But then I thought it was still too much them.
So I tried again...
Hmmm...closer. But still needs some work. The nice thing though, is that it fixed my block and made me feel like drawing.

That's no moon!
I would like to point out that my college education has not gone to waste. This is more or less historically accurate as far as shape, flourishes and...no, nevermind. There is nothing accurate here. My costuming professor would say I took creative liberties. And then he would say that a good costume designer always does. Maybe.

You are a wonder.
I can’t say that I am the biggest fan of motivational posters, or motivational speakers or motivational...stuff. But I do feel like, every once in a while, we all need an “atta-girl” from someone else. It’s always nice to know that your back is covered. And lately I’ve been feeling that the ladies of this world need to know how wonderful they are. So here, let me just tell you, you are a wonder, woman.

St. Rebecca, Our Lady of Tank
I have to admit that I am pretty pleased with this drawing. I’m a long time fan of Tank Girl and I really just wanted to do her justice. I also wanted to make sure Booga was there...and Camp Koala just seemed like a natural.

Bell. Book. Candle.
Sometimes it’s got to be about evoking another image. Bell, Book and Candle is a favorite movie of mine, and this is an attempt at evoking a famous moment from that movie. But man, Kim Novak’s hair was an amazing color not found in nature and poor Pyewacket was the goofiest looking cat that ever goofed, what with his crossed eyes, and little pink tougue. I’m not sure I do either of them justice, but I enjoyed trying anyway. I’ll probably keep working on this one...

Bad Ideas.
I’ve had this in mind for a while, but I am not sure what to do with it. I am thinking it might make a good notebook cover...or possibly the cover for my SDCC sketchbook...

Happy Little Cyberman.
At some point I am going to have to draw a Dalek. People ask. They want a Weeping Angel, too. I don't like Daleks. And I have very mixed feelings about Weeping Angels. I have plans for Dave in his suit, post Vashta Nerada, I have plans for a Night Terror doll, I have plans for so many other bad guys, but I am totally doing it to put off the Daleks. I’ll get there, I am sure. It has to happen, but until it does, please enjoy a happy little Cyberman. It looks like he’s been to the fair and had a grand time. Well, in between the deleting, I mean.

Love.
One of my all time favorites. The character and the art. I'm kind of stupidly proud and pleased with this one so go ahead a cue the fall now...because well all know what comes before the fall...summer.
Ah, Hellboy...I love you so. (I love when I go to label a post and the word is already in the archive...how odd that I’ve mentioned Hellboy before. HA!)

Catty.
Big faces. That’s what seems to be going on here. Remind me to show the Harley Quinn and Joker faces sometime, ok. Until I do...

Bubble.
Here’s a peek at something I’ve been working on for San Diego Comic Con.
Although I enjoy the Star Wars and their movies, I don’t consider myself a huge fan. I think that’s really because I know some really, really huge fans and any sort of fandom I have looks teeny tiny in the shadow of their really, really huge fandoms. But I do love the (original three) movies...but I haven’t seen all of the others. I know, I know, but I am not completist in me and everyone says the others are not...great. So, you know...here. Silly art.

Rejects.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Some art just has to get rejected. Problem is, I kind of liked these.
Generally, I don’t like when a writer uses something like a quill pen or an old Corona typewriter on a business card unless, of course, they actually use them. But most writers these days use a computer. And let me just tell you, computers aren’t particularly attractive. So I did do one design with a fountain pen theme and it turned out to be my favorite. But it still got rejected.
Sigh. Sorry, little rejects. Maybe some other time.

Happy V.D.!
I really love Valentine’s Day. A lot of people complain about it being a “Hallmark holiday” or they bitch about the obligations they associate with the day, but I like pink, I like red, I like hearts, I like candy...heck, it’s actually SAINT Valentine’s Day, so...you know, it’s a holy day of sorts. We may not know who the real Valentine was or why he was so saintly (look it up, there are a few possibilites), it's still a sweet day to remember all kinds of love.
I’ve made a lot of Valentines over the years, but this (or a variation on it) has always been a favorite. Unfortunately, I am the only one who finds it funny...or finds worms on a Valentine funny, for that matter.

I also have a fondness for martinis...gin, please. Oh, Martini...Olive you.
And then there’s the sincere...
Happy Valentine’s Day, ya’ll!

Shhh...
I don’t think I ever posted the finished Silence print...and this is not that. Turns out, it’s hidden away somewhere, and this is the almost finished version. Which I am posting so that you will be delighted and surprised when you see the final product...well, if you do. I mean, yeah, this is pretty close...it’s almost the same, but you should totally come see the actual print next time you are at San Diego Comic Con, or some other place I might be, hanging out, selling things.
Because I am a dork, I always feel the need to tell people why I drew this. See, the Silence doesn’t really have a mouth, and how sad must it be to have mint chocolate chip ice cream but no way to eat it? Pretty sad, I’m guessing...pretty sad.
